2013 ~ Year of the Run

It all began back at the end of 2012, just a few days before the approaching New Year; January the 1st was just around the corner and I did not have a New Year's resolution.  I didn't want to use the same old resolutions, that I continued to use year after year. I wanted something different, something I could commit to and would not give up within the first two or three days. My past resolutions had always been to lose weight and be healthy or to same money, etc., but I knew that would those would not even last a day. I would eat poorly or not workout and just tell myself, "You can start fresh tomorrow," and so on and so forth; so I would just gave up. Why commit to something when I just knew I was going to fail.
January the 1st came and went, and I was resolution less. Many people are like who cares about a silly resolution; I do, it's a new year to start fresh and start over. Then came the question that sparked an idea. A friend of mine asked my to participate in the Scenic City 5K race, sure why not? We had done a 5K's together but that had been over 6 months ago, and it was time to start my couch to 5K (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml) again and to get my rear in gear.
As the days grew closer and closer, I begin to get more and more excited about the race. I had participated in a few 5K's in the past and I absolute loved them, they were fun, pretty cheap, the money raised went to charity, it got me out of the house on a Saturday/Sunday morning and I would also get a cool t-shirt, why not? This got me thinking, why not participate in at least one 5K race for each month in the year on 2013? That's it, this will be my New Year's resolution, it only took me the entire month January to think up; but hey, better late than never. I also did not participate in a race during the month of January but I think I have been able to make it up.

Since then, I have completed  10 races:
